What To Wear With Electric Blue
Bright blues like electric blue, cobalt, royal, and capri blue are in the spotlight in women’s fashion right now. I’m seeing these gorgeous blues in athleisure, workwear, special-occasion dresses, and outerwear. Here’s how to pick electric blue styles that work for you, and what to wear with them…

What Color Is Electric Blue?
While there’s no official standard for the color electric blue, it’s widely known as a vivid shade of blue. In fashion, you’ll see many variations of bright blue: capri blue, bright blue, and cobalt. But these terms are used interchangeably, so for simplicity, let’s call them all electric blue, since that is the trending term.
If you know your seasonal colors, pick a variation of this vivid blue that works for you. As an Autumn, you’ll want a warmer blue that leans towards a dark teal. If you are a spring, choose a lighter, warmer version of bright blue. As a Winter, you can wear the bolder, cooler versions. If you are a summer, choose a cool, slightly muted blue.

What To Wear With Electric Blue?
Neutrals
A classic, no-fail way to add electric blue to your outfits is to combine it with neutrals. Black, white, gray, beige, and cream work beautifully with blue. Olive is now also considered a neutral and pairs well with blue.

Other Fashion Colors
Other popular colors this year include true red, dark purple, burnt orange, butter yellow, chartreuse, chocolate, and burgundy. These create a bolder, more fashion-forward look, and may take a little more experimenting to find two shades that look good together.
An easy way to wear some of these fashion colors together is in prints. My blouse and scarf are both older styles from my closet, but each of them shows color combinations that I wouldn’t put together. But in a print, blue, yellow, and red look good together, as does baby pink and electric blue.

Here are some prints and color-blocked pieces available now with fashion-forward color combinations.
How To Wear Electric Blue
In Small Doses
If you’re not sure about how electric blue works in your closet, start with small doses, like a T-shirt, a cashmere scarf, a belt, or a handbag.
If you prefer a darker, deeper blue, look for lapis lazuli jewelry to add a splash of blue to your outfit. I have my eye on these Monica Vinader Drop Earrings and this Cocktail Ring
Nail polish is always an easy and affordable way to try out a new color. Mine is called Butler Please!

Head-To-Toe
Of course, if you love the color, opt for a head-to-toe look. I’m wearing an older dress from Banana Republic with neutral shoes to keep the focus on the dress.

This Tahari ASL suit is a bold two-piece option in cobalt. This Teri Jon by Rickie Freeman Embellished Dress would be gorgeous as a mother-of-the-bride or holiday party dress. Here are many more options in different shades of electric blue that are available right now.

Hi Kristy, those were my go-to combinations too, but I’ve been trying to experiment with other combinations. Espresso and grays are easy ones, but I’m trying out brighter colors too! xo Nipa
Oh I love this color! And it’s definitely YOUR color! I like wearing electric blue head-to-toe, or paired with white, navy, or black. I need to try some different combos for fall. π
