How To Wear Cow Print
Cow print is trending this year, especially in shades of brown and cream. It’s more sophisticated than the black and white version, and a perfect complement to all the chocolate brown outfits we already have in our closets. Whether you want to wear it from head-to-toe, or just as an accent in your outfit, here’s how to wear the favorite print of the year…

1. Add Cow Print Clothing To Your Closet
If you want to fully embrace the cow print trend, try a cow print midi dress. For a bold look, try high-contrast colors like chocolate and white. For a more subtle approach, try muted colors.
Cow Print Dress
Wear your cow print dress with knee-high boots, slingbacks, or ballet flats.
One Statement Piece
You can also create a bold look with one statement piece like this Cotton Trucker Jacket. Add your favorite jeans, a cream sweater, and brown boots for a casual outfit. Switch to brown tailored pants for a more dressy look.
High Contrast Colors
If you like bold prints, opt for high-contrast colors like dark brown and white. (Black and white would obviously be the most high-contrast option, but that combination isn’t trending in fashion right now, so you’re more likely to find dark brown and white.)
Or try a brighter shade of brown as you see in these bold jeans.
The Subtle Approach
If you prefer a more subtle approach, opt for a cow print trim like this Maeve top.
2. Accessorize With Cow Prints
Accessories range from casual to dressy, bold to understated, so you have plenty of styling options depending on what you pick.
Handbags
I bought this Calf Hair Shoulder Bag during the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale. It is currently sold out in this print, but look out for restocks and returns.

Here are some other handbag options that are currently available:
Belts
For just a hint of cow print in your outfit, try a belt. I’m wearing a Stretch Belt, which is made up of leather oval pieces on elastic, breaking up the print. This style of belt works with jeans or pants, or over a dress, giving you plenty of styling options.

You’ll also find plenty of traditional belts in different widths and buckle styles. Wear these with jeans, pants, or skirts with belt loops.
3. Wear Cow Print Shoes
Whether you’re looking for everyday sneakers or special occasion heels, you’ll find a huge variety of styles. Try boots with cropped pants for a bold look, and sneakers with full-length jeans for just a peek of cow print.
My favorite are these Slingback Sandals, which are subtle and sophisticated. I’m considering buying them to wear with the wool and cashmere dress I purchased during the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale. Because the print is understated, I feel like it’s more of a classic (like leopard print pumps).
4. Add Cow Print To Neutral Color Outfits
Of course, you can wear your brown and cream print with brown and/or cream solids. But what other neutrals can you wear them with? Brown and cream pair well with colors like navy or olive. If the brown in your print is very dark brown, I would suggest avoiding wearing it with black, which might look like a mistake (unless it’s a piece like my handbag, which includes some black patches too).
For lighter color combinations, try a medium gray, tan, or mocha.
One of my favorite combinations is brown and blue, so I plan to wear my handbag and belt with denim outfits.
5. Combine Cow Print With Saturated Colors
Because brown and cream are neutral, you can wear them with bold colors like electric blue, cherry red, burgundy, and dark purple. (All of these colors are trending in Fall/Winter 2025/2026)
Can you wear brown cow prints with neon colors? Sure, I’ve seen a few cow/neon outfits online, but they take a little attitude and finesse to pull off. It’s easier (and more on-trend) to wear the print with neutrals, dark or very light colors.
If the dark saturated colors don’t work for your skin tone, try cream, powder pink, or light blue. Light pinks and blues are currently popular and complement browns and creams.
