5 Fall Trends You’ll Want When Summer Ends
Still enjoying summer? Me too. But I’ve also started adding some fall pieces to my closet that are too good to wait for (thanks to the 2025 Nordstrom Anniversary Sale). These 5 Fall 2025 trends are versatile and easy to wear. You may even find yourself wearing one or two of these trends on a cool summer night…

1. Animal Prints
We almost always see animal prints in the fall, but every year, different trends emerge. In Fall 2025, these trends include abstract animal prints, traditional leopard prints, and brown cow prints.
Abstract Animal Prints
I’m wearing a Jaguar Print Blouse, which has an “smudged” version of jaguar spots. It’s made from 100% Lenzing EcoVero viscose, so it’s very soft and comfortable. I’m wearing it with brown jeans and suede boots, but it would also be a nice blouse for work, paired with tailored pants and loafers.
Traditional Leopard Print
If you prefer the traditional leopard print, in golden brown with black rosettes, you’ll find some great markdowns from previous seasons. My leopard print barn jacket is still available (note that it is final sale). It’s a machine-washable cotton jacket with a corduroy collar – a good option for mild fall weather.
Brown Cow Print
If you’re looking for something new, try a cow print! I’ve been seeing brown and white cow prints in early fall collections. My belt is a stretch belt made of little cow print ovals on an elastic base – a subtle way to wear this trend. 2. Collarless/Bomber Jackets
We’ve seen a lot of collarless sweater jackets and lady jackets over the past couple of years, but this fall, casual collarless jackets and bomber jackets are trending.
I’m wearing a cotton-blend collarless jacket that’s lightweight and machine-washable. It has large pockets, which I always appreciate when I travel or want to go out without a handbag. As the weather gets chilly, I’m planning to wear it with my favorite scarves, since there’s no collar to get in the way!
3. Minimalist Leather Jackets
If you have a leather moto jacket, keep wearing it, as it’s very much in style. But, if you’re looking for something new, consider a minimalist leather jacket. I ordered this Leather Racer Jacket from the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale in my usual size, small. It’s a little snug even with just a t-shirt underneath, so you may want to size up to wear it with a sweater.
I also ordered this Crop Leather Jacket in my usual size XS (in the Nordstrom brand). It’s a comfortable fit with just a t-shirt, but I may need to size up to get more wear out of it.
4. Chocolate Brown
Chocolate brown has been “the new black” for a few years now and is still one of the most popular Fall 2025 trends. If you find that black is too harsh for your skin tone, try chocolate brown instead.
I thought this Wool & Cashmere Blend Dress would be perfect for fall and winter parties, when I need to dress up and stay warm too! I’m wearing my usual size, XS. I would have liked it even better had the tie not been attached, but it’s not a deal-breaker for me. (Note that this is dry-clean only, in case you only like machine-washable clothes).
I also bought this crew-neck cashmere sweater. I have one in blue that I wear all the time, so I thought this chocolate would be another good option. (It’s also dry clean only, but I always wear my blue one with a t-shirt underneath, to minimize washing).
My pants are kick flare jeans (I bought the regular size so that they would be full-length on me) from one of my favorite jean brands. They’re more faded than they look on the website, but still a beautiful dark brown.
5. Wide Leg Jeans & Pants
Wide leg pants are nothing new, but I had to mention them because there was so much talk about skinnier jeans coming back in style. But, wide leg jeans and pants are so flattering, especially if you are petite and curvy like I am. The wide leg silhouette balances out a tummy or wide hips (whereas a skinny style highlights the difference between your hips and ankles). Full-length wide leg jeans and pants are also perfect for hiding heels, giving you the illusion of longer legs.
If you’re looking for something new, try patch pocket wide leg jeans or pants. I bought these High Waist Wide Leg Ankle Jeans (they are full length on me because I’m just under 5’4″). I bought my usual size 28, but they are too loose on me – I plan to exchange them for a smaller size.
