SPANX® Stretch Twill Cropped Pants Review

I’m not a huge fan of white or light-colored pants. Or cropped pants. Or shapewear. So how did I end up buying these SPANX® stretch twill wide-leg cropped pants in white and in pale pink?

The short answer: curiosity. I wanted to see if the white pants were really no-show.

The long answer: keep reading. Spoiler – they’re very flattering.

Stretch Twill Cropped Pants Style Details

The Spanx® stretch twill wide-leg cropped pants are pull-on stretch pants, with slanted pockets in the front and small patch pockets in the pack. They have the Spanx® signature tummy-tucking technology. They’re snug but comfortable. Without a zipper or button fly, you have a smooth, clean look.

This style has an 11 1/2″ rise with a 27″ inseam and 19″ leg opening (based on a size Medium). The fabric is a medium weight (55% cotton, 29% rayon, 13% polyester, 3% elastane). The pants are machine washable.

I think these run a little small, so I bought the Medium (I usually wear a small/4/4P in pants). They’re almost ankle length on me (I’m just under 5’4″) but if you’re taller, they’ll be a true cropped length on you.

They’re available at Nordstrom in Bright White. The fabric is heavy enough that you don’t have to worry too much about your underwear showing through. But to be fair, I didn’t try these with anything bright or patterned.

How To Style Your Twill Crop Pants

The Spanx® stretch twill wide-leg cropped pants are ideal for moderate weather. They’re too heavy to wear out on a hot summer day. And they’re not warm enough for New York winter. They’re just perfect for cooler days.

Tops

Because these pants are high-waisted, I recommend three styles of tops:

1. Bodysuits
2. Tops that you can tuck in.
3. Cropped tops.

If you want to wear a longer layer, add a cardigan, blazer, or jacket, but keep your baselayer short or tucked. A longer top combined with the cropped length of these pants will make your legs look shorter.

Shoes

Full-length wide-leg pants only work with certain styles of shoes (more on that next week) but cropped wide-leg pants give you more options.

You can wear them with flat sandals like these. You can also wear them with block heels, wedges, sneakers, or boots. Wear the same (or a similar) color for an elongated look, or something colorful (and fun) to make a statement.

Accessories

Though these pants have an elastic waist, you can add a skinny belt for a more polished look. Try a fun pattern or an embellished belt.
