Sustainable Sandals And Flip-Flops By Oka-B
If you’re looking for eco-friendly, sustainable sandals and flip-flops, let me introduce you to Oka-B.
Oka-B is a women-led company based in Buford, GA. They use a vegan, bio-based material that can be recycled into new shoes. Most Oka-B shoes, sandals, and flip-flops contain 15-20% recycled materials. You can send your worn Oka-B shoes back to the company to recycle (and earn a 20% discount on your next purchase).
Disclosure: Oka-B sent me a pair of their flip-flops last year to review on Instagram. I became such a fan of the sandals (and the company) that I bought two more pairs. Recently, I applied to be an affiliate for them, so if you’re a first-time buyer, you can use this link and discount code FASHIONIPA for 15% off.
Flip-Flops With A Contoured Footbed
Oka-B sent me their Theresa flip-flops last year (however, they did not pay me/sponsor this post – I’m writing this as a fan of the brand!)
I’m wearing a Medium (my usual shoe size is 7). The Theresa Flip-Flops are available in 5 colors: Sapphire, Salt, Licorice, Sea Glass, and Signature Blue.

What I love:
- The turtle design is so unique.
- The massage beads feel so good on my feet.
- The arch support and heel cup make them so comfortable.
- They’re waterproof and slip-resistant.
- The sole is thicker than the average flip-flops making them more comfortable to walk in.
- These flip-flops have a 2-year guarantee.
- The straps lay flat against my feet, so there’s no rubbing or chafing.
The one drawback:
The material, thicker sole, and straps make these slightly heavier than the average flip-flops. Note: They don’t feel heavy to wear – I only noticed this when I was (over) packing for a trip!

Flip-Flops With Arch Support
After I wore the Theresa flats last summer, I bought these Tucker flip-flops (currently unavailable). They have a little less contouring than the Theresa flip-flops and just a splash of massage beads at the arch. These are a little flatter and lighter, too.

The simple Millie Flip-Flops and the flower-embellished Loren Flip-Flops have a similar sole to the Tuckers.
Recently, Oka-B sent me the Charmed Millie which has removable charms! You can swap the jewels for one of these summer-themed charm sets!
Basic Flat Flip-Flops
I also bought these Bristol Flip-Flops in Licorice/Pearl to wear around the house. There are 7 other color combinations, including pretty pastels and neutrals. I’ve been wearing mine almost every day for the past few months.

What I love:
- They’re lightweight.
- They’re washable. You can throw them in the washing machine or the top rack of your dishwasher. (I’m not kidding – take a look under Materials and Care for these flip-flops!)
- They’re BPA, latex, rubber, phthalate, and formaldehyde-free.
- The scalloped straps make them much cuter than the average flip-flops!
- The straps have some give to them, so they don’t feel stiff. I have other flip-flops that are cute to look at but stiff to wear!
- As with other Oka-B shoes, these are made with a color-fast material, can be recycled or sent back to the company, and are handmade in Georgia.
The one drawback:
Occasionally, I find that the straps are digging in between my toes. They’re a little more fitted than the Theresa sandals.

If you prefer sandals or waterproof shoes, you’ll also find ballet flats, slides, and t-strap sandals. They also have unisex and men’s slides.

Love sustainable and women owned products and businesses. Thank you!
Hi Maria, thanks for stopping by! xo Nipa
I’m very familiar with this brand and I like it. I have a few pairs myself. I like the turtle pair that would be perfect for Florida where I live.
Hi Nancy, I wore my turtle flip-flops all week when I was in Florida a couple of years ago – they were perfect for pool days! xo Nipa
LOve the little turtles! I have heard good things about the brand, but they have to be loose between my toes or I get blisters and its uncomfortable. Like the sounds of the company.
Hope you are having a great summer!

Hi Jess, I found the Theresas (turtle embellished flip-flops) to be fairly loose around the toes. The basic flip-flops like the Bristol (scalloped ones) fit a little tighter on my feet. xo Nipa
Wow, your flip-flops are so unique. I love anything that isn’t “assembly line” boring!!
