1 Color Block Sweater, 4 Outfits
One of my favorite sweater styles this fall is the color block sweater. So when I found this Washable Merino Raglan Sweater on sale at Banana Republic, I couldn’t resist. It’s lightweight merino wool in neutral colors so it works well in both casual and dressy outfits. Here are 4 outfits that I put together with this color block sweater…
1. Casual Days: Sweater + Jeans + Printed Flats

Add jeans (any style) and printed flats to your color block sweater for an easy, casual look. If you’re looking for something different from the animal print shoes that have flooded the fashion scene, try plaid, houndstooth, or camouflage printed flats.
2. Weekend: Sweater + Skinny Jeans + Knee-High Boots

For cooler days, swap your flats for tall boots. My gray boots are an old Lucky Brand style. (Joie’s Reeve Over The Knee Boot are similar.)
If you are looking for new boots this fall, the biggest trends are combat boots, animal prints, western, Victorian, square toe, and slouchy boots.
DSW is a great source for bargains like Lucky Brand’s Inniko Combat Boots and Steve Madden’s slouchy Holly Boots.
3. Date night: Sweater + Satin Midi + Pumps

For dinner out, swap your jeans for a beautiful satin skirt and elegant pumps. I love the contrast of warm, textured wool with smooth, cool satin.
Aqua has several print and color options for their Midi Slip Skirt.
Madewell’s Satin Midi Slip Skirt comes in garnet, spruce, and black.
4. Work: Sweater+ Plaid Skirt + Booties
For the office, wear your color block sweater with a classic plaid skirt and booties.

Staud’s Acorn Colorblack Cotton & Merino Wool Blend Sweater is so unique, and I love that they styled it with a plaid skirt. They also have a gorgeous long version on their website; the Simone Skirt | Light Plaid.
Ann Taylor’s Plaid Button-Front Pencil Skirt has some interesting details but is classic at the same time.
If you prefer an a-line skirt, take a look at Boden’s Eleanor Tweed Kilt in Yellow Prince of Wales.
Other Color Block Sweater Options
$ Puff sleeves have made a comeback! & Other Stories has a gorgeous alpaca wool blend Colour Block Puff Sleeve Sweater.
$$ I really like Boden’s Flora Sweater which comes in three different color combinations. The brighter colors and ribbed neck and cuffs give this sweater a more casual look, so this one may not work for the office.
$$ Kate Spade’s Spade Colorblock Sweater comes in two sweet shades of pink.
Color block pieces are a fun way to add color to your outfit. If you’re looking for a more dressy version, choose a fitted one in fine wool and soft colors. For more of a casual look, pick brighter colors, nubby textures, and a looser fit.
Take a look at my Fall/Winter 2019/2020 Pinterest board for more color block sweater options that are online right now. And if you have your own Pinterest boards, I’d really appreciate it if you would share my pin (below) for this post.

I love how things can be so versatile. I have yet to perfect that style. Rofl – but then again I’m not too savvy when it comes to fashion. I say as I look at my one pair of shoes. GASP!
I think my favorite fit is the last one – with the plaid skirt for work. I just really enjoy that. Very classy and yet not too over done.
