4 Spring Outfits For Unpredictable Weather
Earlier in April, my daughter and I went to the Bay Area to visit family and friends. In case you don’t know that part of California, the weather can range from 50ยฐF – 80ยฐF in the spring. It can be sunny or rainy, and change from morning to afternoon, or from one area to another! These are the outfits that I wore for the unpredictable spring weather…

1. Cropped Jacket + Long-Sleeved Blouse + White Pants

On warmer days, I wore this Banana Republic jacket from a few years ago. This new cropped jacket is similar (or try this affordable one from Old Navy). I also wore this on the plane as it is easy to wash and has plenty of pockets.
My blouse is this Easy Floral Split Neck top from LOFT.
My pants are an older version of these Cropped Wide Leg Pants by Spanx. They’re fabulous tummy tucking, opaque, stretchy white pants. I don’t usually wear white pants at home (because of the pup’s always-muddy paws), but they were wonderful for vacation!
2. Barn Jacket + Jeans + Sneakers

On cooler days, I wore my J. Crew Short Barn Jacket, which is quilted inside and windproof.
I wore it with my Bootcut Jeans or Cargo Jeans.
I took quite a few shirts and t-shirts with me, but ended up wearing this stretchy button up shirt or this long-sleeved organic cotton ribbed t-shirt repeatedly.
My sneakers are the Veronica Beard Lennox Sneaker. They were a splurge, but I wore them everywhere, so the cost-per-wear is pretty low!
3. Cozy Hoodie + Jeans + Sneakers
We couldn’t resist all the shopping options in the Bay Area (if you’ve ever been to Upstate NY, you understand our pain), so I ended up buying this Lululemon Oversized Full Zip Hoodie. I’m wearing XS/S, and it has plenty of room for one or more layers underneath.

4. Athletic Jacket + White Pants + Flip Flops

I also packed my Athleta Salutation Jacket, which fits snugly so it can be worn as outerwear or a layer under another jacket. I had planned to wear them with my High-Rise Mini Flare Pants, but ended up wearing the white pants again as we were in a hurry to get out the door!
My lightweight flip-flops are a must-have for travel. I wear them at the pool, in the hotel room, and in this case, during an impromptu visit to the beach!
Did you notice what most of these pieces have in common? Lots of pockets. Having had my purse stolen once while traveling, I always keep my phone in zippered or buttoned pockets. And I always carry a crossbody bag for my other valuables.
Curious about what I didn’t end up wearing? The maxi dresses, cardigans, and dressy shoes that I thought I’d wear. It was too windy for dresses, and most places that we went to were quite casual.
Tell me, do you have some travel outfits you always pack for unpredictable spring weather?
