The Abstract Print Trend That Makes Neutrals Feel Fresh Again
If you love wearing neutrals but want a fresh look, try an abstract print. We haven’t seen these kinds of print in a while, so they look new, fun, and fashion-forward.

What Is An Abstract Print?
What is an abstract print? It’s a print created with lines, brushstrokes, and artistic motifs that don’t quite fit into traditional print categories like florals and stripes. It may have elements of a geometric or floral motif, but in a more artistic expression. It’s one of those “you’ll know it when you see it” things, so here are some examples and shoppable options:
How To Wear An Abstract Print
I’m seeing a variety of abstract prints this year, including high contrast colors, like black and white, and low-contrast ones like tan and chocolate. There are some bold abstract florals as well as small geometric patterns. Choose what looks good to you and what works with what you already own.
If you want to keep it simple, wear your abstract print with solid colors. You can match a color from your print or try a contrasting color. I’m wearing a Madewell Printed Linen Shell. (It’s the same belly-covering shell that I wore in this post – I exchanged it as the ivory color was a little too warm for my skin tone).

If you like to play with patterns, pair your abstract print with other prints. I’m adding a hint of a floral print with my floral flip flops! Stripes, polka dots, and gingham checks in the same colors as your abstract print are other fun print combinations.
