Sophisticated Red, White And Blue Outfits
As Memorial Day and July 4th approach, we usually see an abundance of denim shorts and flag t-shirts. But this year we’re also seeing red, white, and blue in sophisticated, dressy, and professional pieces, too. Here are some of my favorite red, white, and/or blue styles that won’t make you look like a flag ๐

The Red Dress

Red is a trending color this year, so if you love it, stock up! I’m wearing Theory’s A-Line Wrap Dress in their signature stretch linen made with flax, repurposed cotton fiber waste, and repurposed elastane. (It is a heavier linen and does require dry cleaning).
The wrap style and extra buttons on the inside give you room for adjustment, and the neckline doesn’t come down too low, even for my short-waisted frame. I’ve worn this to dinner with friends, but it would also be appropriate for work events, graduation, or other parties. It’s also available in white and denim blue.

Navy Skirt + Off-White Top + Navy Ballet Flats

If you don’t like wearing shorts, try a maxi or midi skirt. I’m wearing a navy Staud tiered maxi skirt from a few years ago (I’ve linked some similar styles below), with this cap-sleeved sweater and these incredibly comfortable woven leather ballet flats. I’ve worn this outfit to graduation parties, brunch, and casual date nights.
If you find that white looks a little harsh on your skin tone, try a softer off-white or ecru color. Add red accessories if you like that traditional red, white, and blue combination, or choose a neutral like tan or gray.
Wear your skirt with a short-sleeved sweater or blouse for a dressy look. Choose a top that you can tuck in for a polished look. Or try a structured cropped vest to contrast the softer skirt.
Red T-Shirt + Off-White Jeans

Off-white jeans are a nice alternative to blue jeans and denim shorts. I found these Oraije Paris Jeans at a store in New York City that offers sample sales. My t-shirt was a gift from my kids for Mother’s Day a few years ago, and my sneakers are these from Nordstrom Rack.
