My Vegamour GRO Hair Serum Review
About a year ago, my stylist commented that my hair was thinning. I thought it was normal shedding but I soon noticed areas around my temples that were becoming sparse. I decided to reach out to Vegamour, a company that had contacted me to review their hair growth serum. They sent me a 3-pack of their GRO Hair Serum to try. Here’s my experience with hair loss and my review after using Vegamour GRO Hair Serum daily for almost three months…
Disclosure: This 3-pack of Vegamour GRO Hair Serum was sent to me in exchange for my review. These are my honest opinions and actual results.
The Basics Of Hair Growth And Loss
First, let’s review hair growth and loss: Each hair goes through three stages of growth and then a stage of shedding. During the shedding stage, the old hair falls out and new hair starts to grow in its place. It’s normal to lose up to 100 hairs a day during this stage and it can last up to five months. (For a detailed explanation of the stages, take a look at this post from Healthline.)
Hair loss is when you lose more than what is typical for you; when you experience thinning, receding, baldness, etc. There are many causes of hair loss including a genetic predisposition, hormonal changes, aging, stress, medical conditions, and nutrition deficiencies. Hair products and the use of heat styling can also cause hair breakage and loss.

My Hair Loss
My hair loss began in March, just before I turned 50, and my doctor said that it was quite possibly a result of hormonal changes and aging. It was also near the end of an unusually stressful winter. By September, the hair loss had slowed down but had left me with thinning around my temples. In October, I started using Vegamour GRO Hair Serum, and am writing this review in January.
To make a fair assessment, I tried to maintain my usual lifestyle, diet, hair care routine, and use of supplements (all of which can also affect hair growth).
My Results After Using Vegamour GRO Hair Serum
I concentrated my use of the GRO Hair Serum around my temples where I was seeing the most thinning and where I thought the results would be most obvious. These photos have been edited for light and color but there are no touch-ups or changes to my hair. In all three photos, I didn’t heat-style my hair or use styling products.
The first image (in which I’m wearing a white blouse with black stripes) is from October before I started using the GRO Hair Serum.
The next image (in which I’m wearing a lilac t-shirt) is from December after two months of application.
And the final image (in which I’m wearing the mauve check blouse) is from January when I was finally able to part my hair in the middle again. My receding hairline had created a widow’s peak which made it difficult to part my hair in a clean line.
As you can see from the photos, those areas around my temples have new hair growth and my hair looks slightly thicker and longer. (I even had my hair trimmed last week).

I used the serum sparingly, so I haven’t finished the third bottle. I’ll update my post if I see even further changes.
So, What Is Vegamour GRO Serum?
So, what is Vegamour GRO Serum and how does it work? It’s a plant-based serum that includes ingredients such as caffeine, turmeric, bergamot oil, and biotin. The formula is said to help create a healthy follicular ecosystem. You can read more details, and purchase either a one-time supply or a subscription on the Vegamour website.

How To Apply the Vegamour GRO Hair Serum
To use the GRO Hair Serum, simply take a dropper-full, apply it to sections of your scalp and massage it into dry or towel-dried hair. If serum makes you think of a thick substance (like many face serums), don’t worry, it feels more like a liquid than an oil.
Other than a slight tingling, the first time I used it, I forget that it is in my hair. I haven’t experienced any adverse side effects from using it.
For reference, my hair is fine in texture and fairly healthy so heavy oils and products weigh it down. I wash and condition my hair every 3-4 days, and only use heat tools once or twice a week. My stylist covers my grays at the roots every 7-8 weeks and the ends every few months. Other than my recent hair loss, I haven’t had any issues with my hair. Using the hair serum didn’t require any changes to my usual routine.
Other Ways To Improve Hair Health
I was just starting to worry about the hair loss around my temples when Vegamour sent me their GRO Hair Serum serum for review. For that, I’m very grateful and pleased with my results.
If you are thinking about trying the serum, please note that typical results occur after a few months of use so you’ll likely need more than one bottle.
If you think your hair loss is a result of product build-up or scalp irritation, there is a GRO Scalp Detoxifying Serum (to be used weekly) that may help.
After I’ve finished the third bottle, I’m going to address some of the underlying issues that I think caused my hair loss: hormonal imbalance, a need for more protein in my diet, and stress.
I’m also going to add biotin (known to help strengthen hair and nails) to my supplements. I’m looking at Vegamour’s GRO Biotin Gummies which also include folic acid, vitamins A, C, and E as well as vitamins B-5, 6, and 12. It’s also vegan and gluten-free.
I’m also curious about the lash and brow kit as I’ve also experienced hair loss in those areas.
How about you? Have you ever experienced hair loss, and if so how did you address it? Have you ever tried Vegamour products? Let me know in the comment section below…
