My Favorite Clean Makeup From Credo Beauty
At Credo Beauty, you’ll find skincare and makeup brands that use clean ingredients, sustainable packaging, and fair manufacturing practices. While many beauty retailers carry brands that avoid potentially harmful ingredients (such as parabens and phthalates), Credo Beauty takes “clean” a step further by avoiding 2,700 chemicals that may harm our health and the environment. I recently visited the Soho store in NYC and discovered some clean beauty brands I hadn’t tried. Here’s what I bought…

The Makeup I Bought At Credo Beauty, Soho
While I love my Haus Labs by Lady Gaga Liquid Foundation, I wanted to try a cream foundation for travel. I also wanted some new colors for my lipstick collection (which my teenage daughter tells me is smaller than hers!)
Foundation
I spoke to a Clean Beauty Expert, who correctly identified my skin tone as neutral (rather than olive or warm, which is what I’m often told). She also considered my wishlist: travel-friendly makeup with a satin finish before recommending MOB Beauty.
She introduced me to MOB Beauty’s Blurring Ceramide Cream Foundation, which blended in with my skin flawlessly. The Neutral 70 was a perfect match for my summer tan, but I also picked up the Neutral 60 to use as concealer, and later as foundation (when my tan fades).

Blush And Eyeshadow
MOB Beauty has a Refillable Palettes to which you can add 4-12 products to create a travel-friendly makeup kit. I bought the RePurpose Palette 4+, which enabled me to store two foundations, a powder blush, and two eyeshadows (M65 Matte Brown Plum and M6 Matte Peachy Beige.

MOB Beauty makes packaging mostly from post-consumer recycled content, and it is easy to recycle.
Lipstick
For lipstick, I wanted a nude with a matte finish, so I tried the Lipsuede Matte Lipstick by Westman Atelier. It’s more expensive than what I usually spend on lipstick, but Je Rรชve (Blushy Nude) is the color I was looking for. It’s a moisturizing formula that includes hyaluronic acid and peptides. It also has an innovative magnetic mirrored cap.

I also wanted a darker red for dinners and galas, so I bought the Speak Love Moisture Matte Lipstick (in Desired) from LYS Beauty, a slim lipstick (perfect for travel or a small clutch).
Both brands are new to me, and I’m excited to see whether they’ll become some of my go-to brands.

My Other Favorite Brands At Credo Beauty
Credo Beauty also carries some of the clean beauty brands that I’ve been buying at Sephora and Ulta, including:
ILIA
I’m currently using the Fullest Volume Mascara, the Multi-Stick, the Lipsketch Hydrating Crayon, and the Necessary Eye Palette. I’ve also used the True Skin Serum and Balmy Lip Oil in the past.
Tower28
Tower28 is an affordable, clean beauty brand. I’ve used the Mascara and the Cream Contour + Bronzer.
Waleda
I use Waleda’s Skin Food in winter (as it is a bit heavy) for my hands and knees, which tend to get the driest. This year, I’m going to try the Body Lotion to see if it absorbs more quickly.
Why Credo Beauty?
If you want to buy skincare and makeup that’s non-toxic and low-hazard, Credo Beauty makes it easy by only carrying brands that pass their rigorous standards. “Clean” is an unregulated term and often means different standards for different brands, so if you want to know more about The Credo Clean Standardโข, you’ll find the details here.
Credo Beauty has an online store, where you’ll find skincare, haircare, fragrances, candles, and personal care items. They also have a recycling program where you can send back (or drop off in-store) hard-to-recycle empty containers.
I also like to check brands and individual products on EWG’s Skin Deep database to see their hazard score for certain products.
The way I see it, since skin and nails are highly absorbent, it’s worth investing in products that don’t contain potentially harmful ingredients. And having a store that screens for those ingredients saves time and effort.
How do you choose your makeup and skincare products? Have you shopped at Credo Beauty for your makeup?
