Indoor Halloween Home Decor

Halloween, in our family, is pretty simple. Buy costumes. Carve pumpkins. Run like maniacs in our friends’ neighborhood collecting as much candy as possible. This year, will of course be different since the CDC has deemed traditional trick-or-treating a high-risk activity. Since we’re staying at home, I’m planning to decorate more but I can’t bring myself to buy a lot of disposable, plastic junk. So I decided to focus on Halloween home decor instead, especially items that we can use and enjoy all month long, and store away for next year. If you have a small home, lack storage space, or just don’t want any more plastic decorations, you’ll love these finds…

1. Spooky Ceramic & Resin Pumpkins

If you don’t have the time (or kids) to carve real pumpkins, consider buying ceramic or resin ones. I found this little pumpkin at a local store, and love that it’s small enough to display anywhere (like a desk or end table). It’s also easy to store and reuse next year. (Just wrap it in paper, bubble wrap or fabric so that it doesn’t break.)

This little Mackenzie Childs pumpkin is rustic and elegant and would look lovely on a mantel, or nestled into a bowl or a basket with other items. Add some tattered fabric, some dark fabric leaves, or cobwebs (or all three!).

2. Creepy Pillows And Throws

Since Halloween falls on a weekend this year, you’ll have plenty of time to celebrate at home. Cozy up to a good spooky or horror movie with some comfortable pillows and blankets. Which ones do you prefer? Cute or creepy?

3. Ghoulish Lanterns & Candles

By the end of October, daylight hours start to feel really short, so add some lanterns and candles to your Halloween home decor.

If you prefer flameless candles, put one under a Recycled Glass Pumpkin Cloche.

For the real deal, add a spooky spider or spider web candlesticks to your mantle or dining table. Just remember to blow them out before you leave the room.

4. A Dark Tabletop
