Shackets usually come in solid colors, plaid patterns, or buffalo checks, with patch pockets and buttoned cuffs. Some are made of heavy cotton flannel while others are sherpa lined and quite warm. Since black-tie events, cocktail parties, and other dress-up events have largely been canceled, most of us are finding we need more casual clothing. Shackets can range from very casual to polished, depending on the fabric and print. Because it’s hip-length and lightweight, a shacket is a perfect spring jacket. Wear a short-sleeved t-shirt with cropped jeans or even a denim skirt. If you tend to have warmer spring weather, look for a shacket in corduroy or denim.

What To Wear With A Shacket?

1. Leather Leggings + T-Shirt + Ankle Boots

Wear your shacket with sleek leather pants or leggings. Add a fitted t-shirt and cute ankle boots, and you have an outfit that’s comfortable and chic.

My leather legging is from Athleta from a few years ago but if I were to buy a new pair I would look at the Commando Faux Leather Leggings as I’ve read amazing reviews about them. My boots at the Madewell Regan Boot from a few years ago. The Regan boots are currently available in Black or English Saddle.

2. T-Shirt + Jeans + Wedge Boots

Any fitted jeans whether they’re skinny, bootcut, cropped, or straight will look good with your boxy shacket. (Read more about my favorite new jeans in this post). You can also try wider legged jeans, but make sure your top if fitted so that you don’t have too much volume in your outfit.

3. Turtleneck Sweater + Fitted Pants + Sneakers

A cozy merino wool turtleneck sweater will keep you warm on cooler winter days. Add a warm wool hat (mine is handmade, but this Striped Alpaca Hat is similar).

I love the Athleta Foresthill Merino Wool Ascent Turtleneck sweaters as they are second skin tops. On colder days you can add a cardigan on top and still have room for your shacket.
