Eclectic Tabletop Decor Trends I’m Loving

I received a couple of eclectic gifts recently that made me curious about tabletop decor trends. For years, we’ve been using our simple white dinner set and the placemats and tablecloths that our moms gave us. Seeing what’s trending has inspired me to add a few decorative (but also practical) pieces to my tabletop, and also start using some old favorites that are back in style!

Tabletop Decor Trends For 2026

Like fashion, a clean, modern aesthetic is taking a back seat to vintage-inspired, mix-and-match tablescapes. We’re seeing Shabby Chic (again), and Grandma Chic, which includes heirloom pieces, textures, and florals. Instead of buying that faux-linen tablecloth from Target, we’re using Mom’s cotton floral tablecloth to add nostaligia our tabletops. Instead of a monochromatic look, we’re leaning towards Relaxed Maximalism with colors, textures, and metallic (especially silver) accents in a casual setting.

Drinkware Trends

If you’re planning to replace your drinkware set or just adding a few fun pieces to your current collection, consider a vintage or handcrafted style.

Icon Glasses

Icon Glasses are fun and personal. My daughter bought these from Anthropologie to add a little whimsy to our kitchen. They’re hand-blown glasses (so they do require handwashing). Anthropologie has a huge collection of icons, including farm animals, fruit, ribbons, and hearts. They also have a tumbler with a lid, and wine glasses. Hint: these make adorable gifts.

You’ll also find icon glasses at Target (also hand-washable but not handmade).

Crate and Barrel has dishwasher-safe icon glasses and highball glasses (including a few on clearance).

Stripes And Striped Textures

I’m also seeing drinkware in stripes and striped textures, like these West Elm wineglasses or this Williams Sonoma ribbed glassware collection. I love that these add character, but they’re in neutral colors, so you can mix them in with your current tabletop pieces.

If you like colored glass, it’s trending too – take a look at these ombre wine glasses or these stackable ribbed glasses.

Dinnerware and Serveware Trends

I’ve been using my clean, simple Pottery Barn Caterer’s Collection for over a decade. I bought them when our kids were young, and the dishes seem to break all by themselves. I also liked that I could buy any simple white serveware, and it looked like I had a matching set. But this year, I’m leaning into a mix-and-match look and using a set that has been sitting in my cupboard for years.

Wavy Rims

After looking at the tabletop decor trends, I’ve pulled out this old set, which has a warmer, artisanal look. (It’s no longer available, but Crate & Barrel’s Marin Collection is similar. I don’t have any matching serveware, so I have to get much more creative with my tablescape when I use this collection.

(In case you’re wondering about my flatware, it’s this set from Made In. It took a minute to get used to the larger teaspoons, but otherwise it’s a high-quality set.

Beaded And Scalloped Edges

If you’re looking for a new dinnerware set, consider a scalloped edge like this white Savannah Dinner Set or this Loire Porcelain Dinner Set with a beaded edge. Both have a feminine aesthetic that fits into the Grandma Chic and Shabby Chic trends. Add flowers, lace accents, and natural linens to your tablescape.

Florals And Ruffles

While I was exploring the Shabby Chic trend, I remembered that I had this ruffled bowl that I hadn’t used in a while. If you like this look, take a look at this Crate & Barrel Ruffled Bowl.

Whimsy

With dining becoming more casual, whimsical pieces are also trending. A good friend gave me this Mudpie Set – they have a huge collection of servewear with silly messages and puns. With all the stresses of life, I can’t think of a better way to enjoy entertaining than with a dose of humor!

Tabletop Linens, Placemats, And Chargers

Tablecloths, placemats, and chargers are an easy way to update your tablescape or celebrate the season. As much as I love holiday and summer-themed dinnerware sets, I’ve never had the time to switch mine. Table linens and placemats don’t take up as much storage space and are easy to swap out.

I’ve been using the South Asian block print cotton tablecloths my mom has given me over the past few decades. (Wayfair has a very affordable block print tablecloth if you’re looking for one). This year, I’d like to replace one or two of them with textures and florals.

For spring, Pottery Barn has a beautiful collection of florals and bunnies. If florals aren’t your style, try gingham or stripes, both are trending. And their organic cotton tablecloths have a beautiful lived-in texture to them. Frayed edges and tassels are also trending, but may need extra care when washing.

For an affordable linen tablecloth, take a look at Target’s cotton and linen option.

Chargers and placemats are also a way to add texture to your tabletop. Try textured canvas, woven textures, or rattan. Target has very affordable round basketweave chargers.

And I’m going to say that since we’re looking for a Shabby Chic aesthetic, wrinkles are in style 😉. (If that isn’t your style, see if your dryer has a steam setting – it’s a game changer!)

Centerpieces And Other Tabletop Decor

While we are leaning towards maximalism in our table decor, that curated collection of candles and flowers across the length of the table runner is being replaced by scattered mix-and-match pieces that have personality.

Add whimsical or eclectic candle holders, a table throw, or unique bowls for decor that’s also practical.

I like to put decor on a tray or in a basket so that it’s easy to move when it’s time to serve dinner. I often put flowers and candles on this Acacia Platter, but if I were to buy something new, I would choose this Wooden Scalloped Tray.
