1. Flared Leggings + Cropped Sweatshirt + Sneakers + Vest
For an active day, it’s always tempting to throw on an oversized sweatshirt and leggings, but let’s update this look!
Try a pair of flared leggings, a cropped sweatshirt, and a long vest. I’m wearing my Zella flared leggings. The high (tummy smoothing) waist makes me feel comfortable enough to wear a cropped sweatshirt. Mine is an old style but this Twist Front Sweatshirt is currently available. Add a long vest for more coverage and warmth.

My vest is an old style, but if I were shopping for one now I’d buy this Margareth Puffer Vest with a hood and sherpa lining. My favorite fall sneakers are my Allbirds Tree Runners or if it’s a really active day, then my Asics Gel Kayanos.
If you prefer a looser style, try some wide-leg like these Brushed Move Pants from Pact. This style is still fitted around the tummy but looser around the thighs than the Zella leggings.
If you’re doing the entertaining, switch the vest for your favorite apron and the sneakers for comfy slippers. Sweaty Betty’s After Class Split Sweatshirt is lightweight and the split side will give you plenty of room to move.
2. Graphic T-Shirt + Jeans + Comfy Sneakers

If you’re looking for something festive but casual, you might like this graphic t-shirt from J.Crew Factory. I love that it’s pink which makes me feel like I can wear it any time of year. (Hot pink is one of this Fall’s unexpected favorite colors!)
I’m wearing it with my Rag & Bone jeans and Allbirds Tree Runners.
If you need an extra layer, take a look at Everlane’s ReNew Teddy Bomber (machine washable) or Texture Cotton Cardigan (handwash). Both are washable so they’ll be able to handle a gravy spill!

3. Corduroy Skirt Or Pants + Sweater + Block Heeled Boots

Looking for an alternative to jeans and leggings? Try a corduroy skirt or pants. I’m wearing a corduroy skirt that I found at a LOFT outlet. It’s not available online, but this GAP Snap Front Corduroy Mini Skirt is very similar.
Wit & Wisdom’s Patch Pocket Corduroy Skirt and Madewell’s Corduroy Mini Skirt are two options without the button front. (Note that they are both a little over 17″ so quite short). Witha. plain front, you can switch your sweater for a v-neck cardigan.
Prefer pants? Take a look at Everlane’s Corduroy Wide Leg Pants.
I love wearing v-neck sweaters in the fall as it gives me a chance to wear my favorite necklaces before I have to hide under turtlenecks and scarves! Mine is an old style from Ann Taylor but this Blouson Sleeve Sweater has a similar shape and shallow v-neck.
My boots are a past-season style from Madewell, but these croc ones are similar.
