What To Wear With A Tiered Maxi Skirt
A tiered maxi skirt is perfect for spring when it’s not quite warm enough for mini skirts or shorts. You can wear it with lots of different tops but I have one guideline: make sure the waistband shows. Choose a cropped top or one that you can tuck in. A top that ends at the hips or below will hide the shape of the skirt and may look frumpy. Here are some outfit options you can create with your tiered maxi skirt…

Tiered Maxi Skirt + Cropped T-Shirt + Wedge Sandals

My tiered maxi skirt is Staud’s Sea Sea Maxi skirt in Navy. I usually wear a 4 in most brands but sized up to an 8. Check the size chart if you are considering this style as you may need to size up.
This is a style that they remake season after season, so look out for lots of color and print options.
My t-shirt is J.Crew’s 90’s Cropped Organic Cotton T-shirt from last year. Everlane has a similar (but shorter) Ribbed Baby Tee. Madewell has a Square-neck Tee – I love the shape of this neckline!
My wedge sandals are my Sarah Flint (gifted) Mirjana Wedge sandals which I wrote about here: The Perfect Summer Wedge Sandals.
Tiered Maxi Skirt + Tucked-In Top + Flats
Not sure about a cropped top? Try a body suit or snug tank top that you can tuck in.
If you’re looking for a bra strap-friendly tank top, I just bought this Fitted Ribbed Tank from Banana Republic in navy. I was a bit skeptical of the ribbed texture which can often be clingy, but I really like the way it fits.
I don’t often wear bodysuits but when I do, I prefer a bikini bottom like this Everlane Cutaway Tank Bodysuit to a thong.
Wear these with some comfortable flats like the ever-popular Tory Burch Miller Sandals, Reformation’s Lattice Flat sandals, or Anthropologie’s easy Leather Thong sandals.
Tiered Maxi Skirt + Wrap Top + Ballet Flats
Looking for a warmer option? Try a knit wrap top with ballet flats. Everlane has a pretty Rib-Knit Wrap Top in a cropped length. Madewell has a similar Ribbed V-Neck Wrap Top. I also love the wrap cardigan from & Other Stories. Wear these with pointed-toe flats like Sarah Flint’s Natalie or square-toe flats like Tory Burch’s Georgia Ballet Flats.

Love you suggestions. I have never worn a maxi skirt
Hi Judy, Hope you’ll try one – they’re so flattering, and fun to wear! xo Nipa
great tips, and I love the square neckline too. Yes, I’ve bought a few cropped shirts because of the higher rise or higher u p on the body. Love how you styled it.

Hi Jess, Me too. It took me a while to find ones that are just the right length (i.e. not belly-baring) but I have a few options now. xo Nipa
Very pretty! I have both a wrap top and a maxi skirt! I will definitely try that out!
