Pretty Floral Party Dresses: Mini And Knee Length
Fit And Flare
A silk dress always looks so elegant and feels comfortable on a warm day. I bought J.Crew’s Ruffle Stretch Silk in Wisp Floral in Navy (size 2) and in Pale Cloud (size 4). I didn’t find much of a difference in the two sizes, so I recommend trying them on if you are considering buying one. They’re fitted through the hips (so didn’t quite work for my midlife belly) and have a gently flared skirt.

Reformation’s Kaye Silk Dress is another beautiful option and comes in three pretty florals. It has a cap sleeve so if you don’t like wearing strapless bras, this one is strap-friendly. If you don’t like a lot of volume, this one has a slightly flared skirt.
This Likely Geo Floral dress flares at the waist, so it has a little more room in the hip area. The smocking on the dress is at the neck and collarbone, so if you’ve avoided smocking because it’s too body-hugging, you may like this. (This one is 100% polyester.)
Shift Dresses And Tunic Dresses
Shift dresses are straight through the waist and hips, and usually end above the knees. If you don’t want a nipped-in waist (perhaps to hide a belly bump or balance a pear-shaped figure)try a shift dress. I’m wearing J.Crew’s Tie-Shoulder Cotton Poplin Dress in the Navy floral. I loved the print, and the fact that it is made in organic cotton, but the ties felt a bit big for me. If you want to draw attention to your shoulders and legs, this is the dress for you. It’s just right for a brunch, graduation party or for vacation. (Heads up: these are final sale.)

Button-Front And Shirt Dresses
If you’re looking for a casual, comfortable machine washable dress, Boden has some good options. I’m wearing the Ruffle Button Mini Dress which has a whimsical floral print. It feels like a t-shirt dress but looks like a party dress.

I also like their Easy Jersey Shirt Dress which has cap sleeves. Boden dresses are available in Petite, Regular and Long sizes.
Linen is also a good option for a warm summer outdoor party. Banana Republic’s Linen Shirt Dress comes fun tropical floral print. Throw on some sandals, grab a straw bag, your sunglasses and you’re ready!
Pretty Floral Party Dresses: Midi And Maxi Length Dresses
Looking for a full-length (maxi) dress? This Floral Tiered Maxi Dress has an easy fit, a beautiful floral print, long sleeves, and soft ruffles. It’s perfect if you tend to get chilly when the air-conditioning is on full blast (guilty) or just prefer more coverage.
This Farm Rio Off White McCaw Dress is a gorgeous option for a tropical vacation or wedding. It has a loose fit, a tiny cutout detail, and fun beaded tassels.
I wrote about one of my favorite floral party dresses of the season in this post: Anthropologieโs Somerset Maxi Dress Review. Hint: it’s a figure-flattering and so comfortable.

I love dresses and these are so pretty, Nipa! (This season’s floral prints are lovely, aren’t they?)
I’ve been reaching for similar styles for graduations, brunches, etc. As always, your selections are on point! xo
Hi Kristy, Yes!!! I love so many of the florals this season, especially all the blues. The challenge for me was to find dresses that didn’t have cutouts and weren’t clingy or too short. I think I finally found quite a few that are elegant and fairly modest. xo Nipa
Hi Nipa!
I LOVE that blue and white shift dress on you! I am kinda obsessed with the shoulder ties on dresses. I have a few and I like it since I am long waisted- to have the option to length the tie if needed. Such pretty dresses! I love your choices and am a fan of shirt dresses as well.
Have a great week!

Hi Jess, I love shoulder ties because I’m petite my collarbone area and struggle with straps being too long ๐. This one is a good one for so many body types! xo Nipa
