How To Wear Pink This Year
The color pink represents warmth, youth, love, compassion, and health, so it’s no wonder that it is a hue that most of us love to wear! Traditionally a spring and summer color, pink is now an all-year staple and will be an important color this fall. Whatever your skin tone, there’s a pink that’s perfect for you. Wear blush, a hint of pink, as you would a neutral. Try this year’s fashion favorite, bubble gum pink, for a bolder look. Or wear a deep magenta, as an alternative to red. Whether you’re ready to wear it from head to toe or prefer it as an accent, here are some fresh ways to wear pink.

How To Wear Pink This Summer
Pink Midi Dresses
I’m wearing J.Crew’s Midi T-shirt Dress in Icy Orchid which is light pink with cool undertones. The midi-length and simple style make this a versatile piece.

If you prefer a bright pink, try J.Crew Factory’s V-Neck Tiered Midi Dress in Bold Hibiscus. WAYF’s Open back Tiered Sundress is also a comfortable and casual option.
For something more dressy, J.Crew has a Puff Sleeve Silk Midi Dress in Light Hibiscus. This shade of pink looks very much like bubblegum pink, that bright, Dubble Bubble gum color. If a bright pink with warm undertones works for you, this is one of the most popular colors this year.
Pink Tie-Dye Prints
There’s something about tie-dye that just feels like summer vacation (or camp)! This year, there are plenty of pink tie-dye pieces to choose from.
One of my favorite new dresses is the Athleta Santorini Dress. (More details in my 5 Summer Dress Styles For Women Over 40 post. There are a few sizes left in the dark pink color.
For softer pink tie-dye dresses, take a look at these options available from Amazon:
If you need a tank top, take a look at Athleta’s Organic Daily Tank in Sunburst Palermo Pink or Banana Republic’s Fitted Ribbed Tank in Pink Cloud. Both are warm (peachy) light pinks.
Pink Shoes And Handbags
If you just want some pink accents in your closet, consider a few pink accessories to make your neutral outfits pop. Whether you’re wearing black, navy, tan, denim, or white, add a touch of pink to finish your look.
Coach’s Swinger Mini Leather Crossbody in Rouge is a classic shoulder bag in a fun hot pink. Kate Spade’s Astrid Medium Pebbled Camera Bag in Crushed Watermelon is an affordable cross-body bag.
For some blush pink options available at Amazon, take a look at these options:
DSW has lots of cute affordable pink sandal options like Lucky Brand’s Pemal sandals and Vionic’s Wanda sandals. For bright pink options, take a look at Sam Edelman’s Grenada Slide Sandal and UGG’s Navee Espadrille Wedge Sandal.
How To Wear Pink This Fall
Wool Or Cashmere Sweater
If you’re looking for a basic dress-up-or-down sweater, I have several of Banana Republic’s merino wool sweaters. The Seamless Merino Crewneck comes in a beautiful Blush Pink.
Cashmere is expensive, so I like to buy styles that I can wear in multiple ways. A cashmere cardigan like C By Bloomingdales’ Cashemere Crew Neck Sweater in Bright Magenta can be worn buttoned up as a top, left open over a camisole, or layered under a coat.
Loungewear
If you’re buying from the 2021 Nordstrom Anniversary Sale (open to the public on June 28th), take a look at the Mixed Media Cowl Neck Organic Cotton Blend Sweatshirt. The sleeves are so unique!
For a simple, cozy sweatshirt in a warmer, darker pink, try Zella’s Amazing Crewneck Sweatshirt in Pink Mauve.
Make-Up
In the fall when your tan starts to fade, brighten up your complexion with some pink blush. Choose a mauve if cooler colors flatter you, or peach if warmer tones work better. If you’re fortunate to not need to wear a mask any more, restock your lipstick collection.
Wearing Pink During The Holidays
During the holidays, I tend to wear lighter shades of pink. I love darker pinks, but I feel like they clash with the reds we see everywhere during the holiday season!
If you know you’ll have some holiday parties to attend this year, you may want to grab J.Crew’s beautiful silk gathered dress or some sparkling pink jewelry.
Do you wear pink? Tell me your favorite shade of pink and how you like to wear it!
