Causebox Subscription Review

*Updated post* June 2023: Causebox rebranded as Alltrue and soon after filed for bankruptcy. I updated this post in May 2022 to include product links from the vendors themselves, or for similar products. Alltrue was later acquired by another company and is continuing to do business. I have not been a customer since the acquisition so please note that this post reflects my experience as a customer of the original company.

Causebox is a subscription box for women that includes sustainable fashion, clean beauty, and artisan home goods. I’ve ordered subscription boxes before but found that I didn’t use a lot of the products I received. So I was pretty cautious about signing up for another one. After checking out Causebox for about a year, I realized that they included items that I was buying elsewhere at much higher prices. So I just bought an annual membership! How Does Causebox’s Membership Work?

The short version is that you can sign up for a quarterly membership and pay for one box at a time, or annual membership and pay for four boxes at a time. The annual Causebox subscription membership gives you a small discount for each box and allows you to customize your box.

Both memberships renew automatically, so if you no longer want to be a member, you’ll need to pause or cancel your membership.

All members receive 6-8 items that are sourced from companies that are ethical, eco-friendly, cruelty-free, charitable, and/or clean. If the current season’s boxes sell out (which they usually do) you can still join, but you’ll get a “Welcome Box” which will be a combination of current and past season’s items.

At the beginning of the season, annual members can choose their items (usually a “this” or “that” scenario. Quarterly members cannot, but they can still see all of the available options.

What Did My Fall Welcome Box Contain?

I got the Fall Welcome Box which is what you get if you subscribe after the current season sells out. The Welcome Box includes some past-season items. I’ve included the retail value of each product but as a member, you’ll pay under $55 (at the time of writing) for the entire box. Here are the items in my Fall Welcome Box:

PMD Clean ($99 Value)

PMD Clean is a battery-operated facial cleaning and massaging device. The silicone brush head is hypoallergenic, odor-resistant, and waterproof. One side is for cleaning and exfoliating, and the other massages in your serum and moisturizer. After using it just a few times, I’m already noticing cleaner skin, especially my pores (fewer blackheads). You can also buy PMD Clean at Amazon, or if you sign up for a future Causebox, look out for it at their Members Market.

Pepper + Vetiver Set of 3 Nesting Bowls ($36 Value)

I love the soothing, watercolor pattern of these bowls designed by LA artist Erin Wolf. I’m using them to serve fruit, veggies, and snacks.

Mira Set of 3 Food Containers ($19.95 Value)

You probably don’t know this about me but I’m slightly obsessed with food containers! Our family is pretty selective about what we eat so I pack lunches and dinners almost daily. These containers are lightweight, BPA-free, and keep food hot or cold for a few hours!

Volim Love Scrub ($56 Value)

I love experimenting with new clean beauty products You only need a tiny bit of this scrub to exfoliate your skin. I wouldn’t recommend it for sensitive skin but if you can handle a course scrub, you might like this Volim Love Scrub.

Way of Will Brightening Face Serum ($37.50 Value)

In the winter, my skin gets pretty dry and dull, so I’ve been using this Way of The Will Serum (after washing, before moisturizer). It feels more like an oil than a serum. I only need a drop or two for glowing skin.

S’well Bottle ($35 Value)

I was actually looking for a S’Well bottle to add to a gift basket for our daughter’s teacher and this one in red is perfect! I’ve been using my own S’well bottle for years and I’ve found that it’s held up better (no scratches or dents) than cheaper alternatives.
