Classic Outfits Featuring Mott & Bow Jeans

There’s nothing more classic than a jeans-and-t-shirt outfit. You can wear it in the fall with mules and a cardigan. You can dress it up with a silk shirt and heels. Add a cashmere sweater, tailored coat, and boots for the winter. Or a raincoat and sneakers for the spring. The trick is to find a flattering pair of jeans and a well-fitted t-shirt. These Mott & Bow jeans and v-neck t-shirt are some comfortable, flattering basics that I recently added to my closet.

If you haven’t heard of Mott & Bow, they are a fairly new clothing brand, designed in the U.S. and manufactured in Honduras (in a 32-year-old family-owned facility). Their product line includes jeans, t-shirts, sweaters, jackets, and sweatshirts for both men and women.

Mott & Bow Jeans: Style, Fit and Quality

Style

The current trends for jeans include loose-fit jeans, straight or bootcut jeans, and distressed jeans. There are plenty of fashion editors declaring the end of the skinny jeans era! For me, they’re winter staple that I cantuck into knee-high boots and snow boots. Dark skinny jeans are also slimming. They look more dressy than jeans with a lighter wash, so they’ll give you more options for creating outfits.

My advice for picking a style is to always choose what flatters your body and lifestyle, over what’s trendy.

Mott & Bow currently offers four basic styles: skinny jeans in mid-rise and high-rise, mom jeans, and slim boyfriend jeans. Most of the jeans and medium blue, gray, or black. There are a few styles with frayed hems or distressing at the knees, but the majority of the jeans have a clean, uniform look.

I tried on two Mott & Bow skinny jeans: The Mid Rise Skinny Jane and the High Rise Skinny Ann. They look similar online, (Jane also has a high rise option) but they felt very different.

Fit

The Mid Rise Jane in size 27 (my usual size) fit my waist, however, it was just too tight in the hips and legs. Since I have extra weight around my waist and belly, the 8.5″ also created that muffin top look. For reference I am just under 5’4″ and around 127lbs.

If you have a slim, straight figure and want a skinny jean that fits like a glove, The Mid Rise Skinny Jane might be an option for you.

The High Rise Skinny Ann was a much better fit for my curves and it elongated my legs. With more stretch than the Mid Rise Skinny Jane, it was also more comfortable. I thought the 10″ high rise would be too long for my petite figure, but it was tummy-smoothing and flattering. In this style, I tried both the 27 and the 28. I didn’t feel like there was a huge difference between the sizes, except the 28 felt a little loose in the front. When in doubt, I always opt for the slightly snug option as jeans with elastic tends to loosen with wear.

However, if you take off a pair of jeans and breathe a sigh of relief, then they were probably too tight!

Mott & Bow has three different length options: 28″, 30″, and 32″. There are many brands that I just can’t wear because they don’t have a short or petite option, and there are some brands where even the petite size is too long for me.

If you’re not sure about your size or length, Mott & Bow has a try-on program where you can buy one pair of jeans, but receive a second size to try on. They’ll include a pre-paid return label for you to return the ones that didn’t fit.

Based on the styles and sizes that I tried on, I think they run slightly small and definitely more slim than other jean brands.

Quality & Fabric

Mott & Bow jeans are made from premium denim made from a blend of cotton, modal, polyester, and elastane. The denim is mostly light or mid-weight and feels structured but soft. I haven’t washed the jeans yet, but will probably machine wash and line dry them as I do with all of my other jeans. So far I have found the quality and workmanship to be similar to some of my other favorite jeans from Madewell, J.Crew, and DL 1961.

Mott & Bow T-Shirts, Sweaters And Sweatshirts

Mott & Bow also kindly gifted one of their Fitted V-Neck T-shirts to me, and I’m not exaggerating when I say that I didn’t want to take it off! This t-shirt is a lightweight cotton-modal blend, that is not too fitted or boxy. The fabric is super soft and it’s tagless. For size reference, I’m wearing the small. I usually wear an XS or S in t-shirts.

The white is a little sheer for me, but if you have a lighter skin tone, you may not have that issue. I wear mine with my Eby Bralette which stays flat against my skin and doesn’t create lines across my front as traditional wired bras often do.

I haven’t tried Mott & Bow’s cashmere pieces, but for cooler weather take a look at their Cashmere Oversized V-Neck.

What To Wear With Your Mott & Bow Jeans

There are so many options to style jeans! On warmer days, I like to throw on a casual jacket and some leopard print mules (mine are old favorites but you can buy these online).

As it gets cooler, I’ll switch to an open front cardigan and combat boots.

At some point, I’m going to invest in a classic leather jacket for fall and winter weather!

I love to dress up jeans with a silk shirt. I have my eye on this sleeveless top and this long-sleeved blouse from Amour Vert.
