3 End-Of-Summer Outfits (2024)
We’re getting little hints of fall in NY, with cool mornings and warm afternoons. So my end-of-summer outfits include lightweight layers, full-length bottoms, and darker colors. Here are 5 outfits that I’ll be wearing in August and September. (If it’s still hot where you are, I’ll show you how to swap pieces or remove layers to create similar looks).

Short-Sleeve Blouse + Dark Denim + Ballet Flats

Linen Blouse / Jeans / Ballet Flats
I’m still wearing my favorite summer linen tops, but now I’m pairing them with jeans. These are the Mother Rider High Waist Ankle Jeans. I loved the dark color and classic cut, but they were very similar to some jeans I already owned, so I returnedthem. (I bought another Mother denim style instead – I’ll show you those in a future post).
My brown ballet flats, brown belt, and patchwork leather handbag bring some fall colors into this outfit.
On a chilly morning, I’ll add a loose, cropped jacket to this outfit. I have one similar to this Shirt Jacket for a casual look. For a dressier outfit, I wear my Lady Jacket
If it’s still warm where you are, you could swap the jeans for a denim skirt. I love this organic cotton, a-line Denim Midi Skirt – the dark rinse, clean hem, and a-line shape make this style more dressy than your average denim skirt.

Kick-Flare Leggings + Tank + Button Front Shirt

Kick-Flare Leggings / Tank Top / Linen Shirt
For weekends, I’m wearing my Zella kick-flare leggings with my favorite summer tank tops. For now, my third piece is a linen shirt, but on a cooler day, I’ll switch to a denim shirt. In October, I’ll be wearing these leggings with this t-shirt, a barn jacket, and sneakers.
Too hot for leggings? Switch the leggings with a skort and the long-sleeved shirt for a short-sleeve coverup.
Drop-Waist Dress + Silver Accessories

Dress (Same Style, Different Print)
I thought this dress would be perfect for an outdoor party that my husband and I attend every September. It’s perfect for a warm summer’s day, with hints of fall in the colors (red and burgundy are going to be very popular this fall).
It’s hard to see in this print, but this dress is a drop-waist (slim through the tummy, with a seam and more fullness from the hips down) which is a trending detail. If you have a shorter torso, like I do, a drop-waist style will make your torso look longer. Here’s the latest version of this dress style.
My favorite “outerwear” for a dress like this is this cashmere wrap. It’s a very fine, lightweight knit but has the warmth of cashmere.
Let me know what you’re wearing as summer transitions into fall…
