  1. Is it just me or is it strange that one organization gets to decide what colour all fashion brands will use in a year? Amazing. I also am wondering if I’m the only one noticing that this year’s fashion trends seem to be a remix of decades worth of fashion combining 80s, 90s and 2000’s ? We should just never throw anything out and we’ll be set for the next 40 years!

Totally agree with your points above about what we look for in fashion as we age.

      Hi Priti,

Pantone guides are for inspiration – it’s up to each brand to decide which parts they’ll follow, if at all. Just like brands can offer all kinds of styles, and you decide what’s right for you!

And yes, every new season incorporates past decades but offers options in a slightly new way. It sounds like you might enjoy vintage shopping or wearing what you have. I love having a few fresh looks every season.

Thanks for reading my post and for your thoughtful comment.

Fantastic post! I love bright colors. What you wear is how you present yourself to the world, especially today, when human contacts are so quick. Fashion is instant language. Fashion should be a form of escapism and not a form of imprisonment. Fashion is like eating; You shouldn’t stick to the same menu

I always love to hear the new and latest trends. Iโ€™m excited about the new jeans and of course color but two I will avoid are mini skirts and cut outs, I think Iโ€™m a little old for those.

    1. fashionipa says:

Hi Nancy, Miniskirts and cutouts are the trends I shied away from too, but I’m determined to find some midlife/modest versions of both trends this year! xo Nipa

Great tips! I struggle with colors, everytime I buy them they sit in my closet as I’m always reaching for my neutrals. Do you have a suggestion of a way to incorporate something with a little color into a more neutral pallet outfit?

I’m also intrigued by the toothpaste tablets lol. Going to check them out!

    1. fashionipa says:

Hi Veldene, Try an all-neutral outfit with one color as an accent, for example, black pants, a black sweater, black boots, and a pink jacket (or handbag or scarf). Prints are an easy way to get used to wearing colors too. Choose one that includes some of your favorite neutrals so that it coordinates easily with other pieces in your closet. Hope that helps! xo Nipa
P.S. I got the mouthwash tablets, but they do have toothpaste as well.

  5. I do like bright colors and Iโ€™m surprised that periwinkle is a thing again. One of my friends did her whole wedding party in periwinkle, but that was probably 25 years ago! Glad brights are back in, I love rich jewel tones.

Hi Adian, Trends have a way of coming back, don’t they? I’m excited to see how designers update periwinkle what other shades of purple they use this season. xo Nipa

Iโ€™m most excited about the bright colors but I honestly loved reading about everything you shared here! How exciting! Enjoyed learning more about the 2022 trends!

    1. fashionipa says:

Me too! I have a tendancy to buy a lot of black and navy, so Iโ€™m looking forward to adding more color to my closet. You wear those brights so well. Canโ€™t wait to see how you style them in 2022! Xo Nipa

Great post with lots of info!! I like that brighter, prettier colors are in – that always helps lift mood and feel like spring. I also like the textured sweaters – an interesting knit pattern makes a plain color sweater so much more interesting. Wondering what type of jeans/pants are going to be in?

    1. fashionipa says:

I started writing about pants and jeans but I was already about 10 hours into this post and had to stop! The short answer is straight leg jeans, bootcut jeans, loose jeans are all in style now. Iโ€™ll update my post this week with more details! Xo Nipa

  8. I’m looking forward to wearing more colors this year. Thanks for sharing these trends. Have a great week!

  10. I LOVE that bright colors are trending in ’22! I have a very fair complexion and used to shy away from bold pinks, blues, reds, etc. In my 30s, I realized that I can totally rock bold jewel tones and even pops of reds and pinks. They are now some of my favorite statement colors.

Your post is inspiring, fun, and practical. Thanks for the inspiration on this cold, cold day!

P.S. I love your new hair cut!

    1. fashionipa says:

      Hi Kristy,
So glad you’ve found some colors that make you feel good! I can totally see you rocking those jewel tones. xoxo Nipa
