If you’re looking for fitness gift ideas for women, here are some of my favorite tools and equipment for working out at home…

1. Wearables
My husband gave me the Garmin Venu 2S for Christmas, and while I don’t use all the features it offers, I do rely on it to track my steps, sleep, heart rate, and stress level. The current versions are the Venu 3S and Venu 4, available on Amazon. My husband and two sons, who are serious endurance athletes, live by their Garmin watches.
If I were to choose a watch today, I would opt for the Lily2 Active, which is smaller and looks more elegant. It has a display that shows a pretty pattern until you tap it to reveal your digital display. This would be a perfect gift for someone who wants to keep track of her health, but doesn’t need all the comprehensive tools in the Venu smartwatches.
2. Home Practice Equipment
I do yoga and pilates at home, using the Manduka 6mm Pro (Amazon link) mat that I bought about 10 years ago. It’s thicker than the average mat (and heavier) and comes with a lifetime guarantee. It was a little slippery at the beginning, but it now has the perfect amount of grip. I highly recommend it for an at-home yogi who likes the extra padding! For the studio yogi, take a look at the 4mm PROlite mat.
I’ve recently bought this 12lb Weighted Vest to make my daily dog walks more of a fitness challenge. As you’ve probably heard, we should be doing more strength training and heavy lifting in our 50s and beyond, and this is an easy way to do it.

I also bought these affordable 5lb Dumbbells for upper body training. If I were buying gifts, though, I would buy the cute and practical Bala Bangles. They come in several weights and can be worn on wrists or ankles.
3. Foam Rollers And Massagers
I have been using this foam rolling set regularly for the past couple of years, and it has been a game-changer for reducing stiffness and headaches. It’s the perfect gift for those of us who clench our teeth or hold tension in other areas!

If we didn’t already have a massager, I would ask for a Therabody Theragun, which is smaller and more gentle than what we have.
If you’re looking for stocking stuffers or small gifts, try massage balls, a hot and cold foot roller, or a lymphatic massage roller
4. Fitness Clothing
Athleta
Athleta is my go-to brand for fitness and loungewear. They offer more size options than most brands, and their fit is more accommodating to curves. These are three of the MVPs in my workout/loungewear drawer:
For winter dog walks, I wear my Ranier tights, which have a cozy brushed interior. I used to wear them every week when we went to watch our sons ski in high school races. If you live somewhere cold, add these to your holiday wishlist!
The Salutation High Rise has light compression and stays in place while running or doing yoga.
The Coaster Luxe Sweatshirt is a lightweight, stretchy top that feels like a cross between a t-shirt and a sweatshirt. It’s a good one for anyone who likes a longer top over leggings. I have two, and I am always tempted to buy more colors as they are so comfortable. This one is nice to give as a gift because it’s loose enough to work for most body types.
If you’re Gen X or older, did you wear scrunchy socks in the ’80s? The Cloud Scrunch Socks made me feel nostalgic, so I bought them in navy blue. They’re a fun little gift or stocking stuffer, made mostly from organic cotton.
Lululemon
Lululemon seems to cater more to long and lean body types, but I have found some shorter leggings and hoodies that I love. I wear size 6 in Lululemon (I’m usually a 4/4P in most brands).
The Scuba Hoodie is a cropped, boxy, fleece-lined hoodie that pairs well with leggings and wide leg pants. I have it in navy.
I also love my Align Mini Flare leggings, which feel softer to me than the Athleta Elation leggings.
The Lululemon Belt Bags are always popular, but I prefer the slightly bigger Crossbody Bags.
Zella
If you’re looking for affordable workout clothes, try Zella (by Nordstrom). I wouldn’t consider them high-performance – I wear them as loungewear, for walks, and for yoga at home. I’ve worn the joggers for years now – they’re currently under $30.
5. Footwear
If you’re looking for a practical gift they’ll use often, take a look at these sneakers and hiking boots. I have these Merrell Boots, which I wore for a long day of walking on vacation, and they needed no break-in time.
New Balance is my go-to brand for running shoes. I have the 880, and my daughter has the bestselling 530.
And my favorite everyday shoes are my Allbirds Tree Runners, which are perfect for warm weather. If you’re looking for a gift for cold weather, take a look at the water-resistant Wool Runners. Allbirds makes shoes for men, too!
6. Snacks And Beverages
If you’re looking for small gifts for a basket or Christmas stockings, here are some of my favorite workout and post-workout snacks. I tend to choose snacks and beverages that are low sugar and without stevia.
- 88 Acres Chocolate Bar
- Hu CXunchy Mint Chocolate
- Vital Proteins Travel
- Unreal Peanut Butter Cups
- Nuun Electrolyte Tablets
- RX Protein Bars
- Go Macro Bars
- Mauna Loa Macadamia Nuts
7. Small Gift Options For Fitness Fans

Here are some more small gifts (under $40) that are fun for stockings, gift baskets, white elephant gifts, teacher gifts, etc, from athletic brands.
Have you thought about fitness-related gift ideas for yourself or for gifts? The new year is just around the corner, so I’m thinking ahead!
